Afif fires Qatar to win over Lebanon in AFC Asian Cup opener


DOHA, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Akram Afif scored a brace as host nation Qatar eased past Lebanon 3-0 in the opening match of the AFC Asian Cup here on Friday.

Afif broke the deadlock in the 45th minute on a headed pass from Almoez Ali, who headed home in the 56th minute after Mohammed Waad's cross.

Afif added the third for the defending champion in stoppage time.
