U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, June 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.51 percent to 104.140 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.0897 U.S. dollars from 1.0853 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2797 U.S. dollars from 1.2744 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.22 Japanese yen, lower than 157.19 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.8956 Swiss francs from 0.9014 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3646 Canadian dollars from 1.3620 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 10.4107 Swedish kronor from 10.5259 Swedish kronor.
