NEW DELHI, June 26 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and 12 others suffered burns in a devastating fire at a pharmaceutical factory in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, officials said Wednesday.

The fire broke out in Khushkhera Industrial Area of Bhiwadi in Khairthal-Tijara district, about 194 km northeast of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.

The injured were immediately removed to the hospital.

According to police, the cause of the fire was still under investigation. Fire department officials suspect a short circuit in the factory triggered an explosion, leading to a rapid spread of fire inside the premises.
