U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.42 percent to 106.052 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0680 U.S. dollars from 1.0716 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.2621 U.S. dollars from 1.2694 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 160.70 Japanese yen, higher than 159.67 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8973 Swiss francs from 0.8945 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3703 Canadian dollars from 1.3656 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.5743 Swedish kronor from 10.5021 Swedish kronor.
