U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, June 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 15.64 points, or 0.04 percent, to 39,127.8. The S&P 500 added 8.60 points, or 0.16 percent, to 5,477.9. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 87.50 points, or 0.49 percent, to 17,805.16.

Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with energy and financials leading the laggards by losing 0.86 percent and 0.47 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer discretionary and technology led the gainers by rising 1.98 percent and 0.37 percent, respectively.
