U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.14 percent to 105.906 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0706 U.S. dollars from 1.0680 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.2645 U.S. dollars from 1.2621 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 160.77 Japanese yen, higher than 160.70 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8985 Swiss francs from 0.8973 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3693 Canadian dollars from 1.3703 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.6208 Swedish kronor from 10.5743 Swedish kronor.
