U.S. stocks close lower

NEW YORK, June 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 45.20 points, or 0.12 percent, to 39,118.86. The S&P 500 sank 22.39 points, or 0.41 percent, to 5,460.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 126.08 points, or 0.71 percent, to 17,732.6.

Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with communication services and consumer discretionary leading the laggards by losing 1.63 percent and 1.36 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, real estate and energy led the gainers by rising 0.62 percent and 0.42 percent, respectively.
