U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.03 percent to 105.900 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0729 U.S. dollars from 1.0712 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was nearly flat at 1.2641 U.S. dollars.

The U.S. dollar bought 161.52 Japanese yen, higher than 160.81 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.9035 Swiss francs from 0.8986 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3745 Canadian dollars from 1.3686 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.6303 Swedish kronor from 10.6015 Swedish kronor.
