U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.3 percent to 105.404 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.0780 U.S. dollars from 1.0742 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.2736 U.S. dollars from 1.2684 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 161.66 Japanese yen, higher than 161.49 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9018 Swiss francs from 0.9043 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3637 Canadian dollars from 1.3675 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.5127 Swedish kronor from 10.5904 Swedish kronor.
