U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.26 percent to 105.130 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0812 U.S. dollars from 1.0780 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.2762 U.S. dollars from 1.2736 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 161.25 Japanese yen, lower than 161.66 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.9001 Swiss francs from 0.9018 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3611 Canadian dollars from 1.3637 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.4992 Swedish kronor from 10.5127 Swedish kronor.
