U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.04 percent to 104.314 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0857 U.S. dollars from 1.0848 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2872 U.S. dollars from 1.2859 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.73 Japanese yen, lower than 153.79 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.8836 Swiss francs from 0.8805 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3838 Canadian dollars from 1.3824 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 10.8254 Swedish kronor from 10.8147 Swedish kronor.
