Olympics | U.S. set new world record in 4x400 mixed relay on first night of athletics (updated)

PARIS, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The United States 4x400 meters mixed relay team broke the world record for the event on Friday, the first evening of action on the track at the Stade de France in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The team, which consists of Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon, and Kaylyn Brown finished their heat in a time of three minutes, 7.41 seconds, which is over a second quicker than the previous world best.

France came in second in the heat, while Belgium finished in third.

Although the 4x400m mixed relay is a relatively new event, with two men and two women in each team, the fact that a world record has fallen on the very first evening of athletics is a sign that of a fast track in the Saint Denis stadium.
