PARIS, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- South Korea made a 1-2 finish in the women's individual archery competition of the Paris Olympics on Saturday, with Lim Si-hyeon claiming gold.

Lim beat teammate Nam Su-hyeon 7-3 in the final to win her third gold medal of Paris 2024, after previous successes in the mixed and women's team events.

"I am very happy and I enjoyed the match because I met with Nam in the gold medal match. I did my best in the given environment and the results have been good," said Lim.

This is the first time since the 2004 Athens Olympics that South Korea collected both gold and silver in the event.

Lisa Barbelin of France edged Jeon Hun-young of South Korea in the bronze medal match to clinch the country's first-ever Olympic medal in women's archery.

"I'm very happy to win this medal. My family were on the stands and I just want to hug them now," said Barbelin.
