PARIS, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Two tandems from Switzerland marched into the top 16 round of the women's beach volleyball competitions with unbeaten records after collecting their third preliminary wins in a row at the Eiffel Tower Stadium on Saturday.

Esmee Boebner and Zoe Verge-Depre held off Giuliana Poletti and Michelle Valiente Amarilla of Paraguay 2-1 (23-21, 18-21, 15-12) to finish top of pool D with a 3-0 win-loss record, while Tanja Huberli and Nina Brunner swept Lezana Placette and Alexia Richard from France 2-0 (21-11, 21-8) for the first place in pool F.

"It was a lot of fun, because this stadium and this court is so much fun to play," said Huberli.

"We're happy and satisfied with how we played so far and now it's all about keep rolling and keep pushing."

Boebner and Verge-Depre will meet Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi of China, who finished third in pool B, in Sunday's first round of the eliminations, where Huberli and Brunner are to play against Spain's Liliana Fernandez Steiner and Paula Soria Gutierrez.
