Olympics | Sweden's Sjostrom wins women's 50m freestyle gold

PARIS, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom claimed her third Olympic gold medal by powering to victory in the women's 50m freestyle final at the Paris Games on Sunday.

The 30-year-old, who set a new Olympic record of 23.66 seconds in her semifinal on Saturday, touched the wall in 23.71 at La Defense Arena.

Australia's Meg Harris took silver in 23.97 and China's Zhang Yufei grabbed bronze in 24.20.

Sjostrom's Olympic gold medal haul also includes the 100m butterfly title at Rio 2016 and the 100m freestyle crown in Paris.
