Uzbekistan maintains high population growth rate

TASHKENT, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan has maintained a high rate of population growth, with its population increasing by 200,000 people over the past three and a half months, according to the state statistics agency.

Statistics showed that as of Aug. 5, 2024, the country's permanent population exceeded 37.2 million people.

On Apr. 22 of this year, the statistics agency reported that the permanent population of Uzbekistan surpassed 37 million people.

Uzbekistan is the most populous country in Central Asia, and its population reached 36 million in December 2022.
