U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.27 percent to 102.969 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.0929 U.S. dollars from 1.0951 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.2698 U.S. dollars from 1.2757 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 145.02 Japanese yen, higher than 143.51 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8530 Swiss francs from 0.8507 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3769 Canadian dollars from 1.3832 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.5254 Swedish kronor from 10.5758 Swedish kronor.
