MADRID, Aug 13 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona have confirmed the sale of Mexico full back Julian Araujo to English Premier League side Bournemouth for a fee in the region of 10 million euros (11 million U.S. dollars).
The 23-year-old leaves Barcelona after joining from Los Angeles Galaxy in February 2023 but without making a single official appearance for the club.
The U.S. born defender arrived after the winter transfer window had closed in 2023 and alternated training sessions with the Barca first team and B-team, before playing a friendly in Japan at the end of June.
Araujo spent last season on loan with Las Palmas, making 28 appearances in LaLiga and scoring two goals, before returning to Barcelona for pre-season. He went on Barca's pre-season tour of the U.S. and played in their friendly game against Manchester City, although he played on the right of midfield and not as full back.
Barcelona will point to the six-million profit they made on the player, who only cost four million euros from LA Galaxy, but that fails to take into account the wages the defender earned over the past year and a half.
