Crude futures settle lower

NEW YORK, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices fell on Monday.

The West Texas Intermediate for September delivery dropped 2.28 U.S. dollars, or 2.97 percent, to settle at 74.37 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery decreased by 2.02 dollars, or 2.54 percent, to settle at 77.66 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
