U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.57 percent to 101.885 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1081 U.S. dollars from 1.1021 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2992 U.S. dollars from 1.2944 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.67 Japanese yen, lower than 147.67 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8627 Swiss francs from 0.8670 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3634 Canadian dollars from 1.3689 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.3145 Swedish kronor from 10.4409 Swedish kronor.
