U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.39 percent to 101.041 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1162 dollars from 1.1121 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3106 dollars from 1.3030 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 144.75 Japanese yen, lower than 145.38 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8504 Swiss francs from 0.8555 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3583 Canadian dollars from 1.3622 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 10.1827 Swedish Kronor from 10.2066 Swedish Kronor.
