U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.35 percent to 101.699 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1052 U.S. dollars from 1.1079 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3122 dollars from 1.3171 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.10 Japanese yen, higher than 144.78 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8504 Swiss francs from 0.8460 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3486 Canadian dollars from 1.3476 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.2722 Swedish Kronor from 10.2307 Swedish Kronor.
