U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.05 percent to 101.653 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1071 U.S. dollars from 1.1052 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3146 dollars from 1.3122 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.89 Japanese yen, higher than 146.10 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8514 Swiss francs from 0.8504 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3492 Canadian dollars from 1.3486 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 10.2510 Swedish Kronor from 10.2722 Swedish Kronor.
