KHARTOUM, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were killed and 11 others injured in a road accident in northern Sudan, the Sudanese police said Tuesday.

A truck carrying goods collided with a mini passenger bus at Arkaweet neighbourhood in the River Nile State, the police's press office said in a statement.

The injured, under stable condition, were transferred to Al-Jikeika Hospital, it said.

Sudan is among the countries with the highest death rates in traffic accidents, mainly due to careless driving and poor road and car conditions.
