U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.17 percent to 101.825 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1038 U.S. dollars from 1.1071 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.3100 dollars from 1.3146 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 145.81 Japanese yen, lower than 146.89 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8504 Swiss francs from 0.8514 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3548 Canadian dollars from 1.3492 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.3136 Swedish Kronor from 10.2510 Swedish Kronor.
