U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.07 percent to 101.177 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1087 U.S. dollars from 1.1104 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3134 dollars from 1.3171 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.36 Japanese yen, lower than 143.42 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8428 Swiss francs from 0.8450 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3564 Canadian dollars from 1.3508 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.2989 Swedish Kronor from 10.2535 Swedish Kronor.
