U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.37 percent to 101.553 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1043 U.S. dollars from 1.1087 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3078 dollars from 1.3134 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.81 Japanese yen, higher than 142.36 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8482 Swiss francs from 0.8428 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3560 Canadian dollars from 1.3564 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.3639 Swedish Kronor from 10.2989 Swedish Kronor.
