U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.31 percent to 101.365 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1061 U.S. dollars from 1.1018 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.3103 dollars from 1.3045 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.03 Japanese yen, lower than 142.20 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8520 Swiss francs from 0.8513 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3589 Canadian dollars from 1.3577 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.3005 Swedish Kronor from 10.3716 Swedish Kronor.
