U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.25 percent to 101.114 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro added to 1.1078 U.S. dollars from 1.1061 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3120 dollars from 1.3103 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 140.93 Japanese yen, lower than 142.03 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8482 Swiss francs from 0.8520 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3596 Canadian dollars from 1.3589 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.2294 Swedish Kronor from 10.3005 Swedish Kronor.
