Fireworks shine Macao as int'l contest starts

MACAO, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The 32nd Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office, commenced on Saturday night and will last till Oct. 6.

Canadian and Thai companies presented the first two feasts for the audience, and Russian and French fireworks shows were scheduled for Sunday.

According to the organizer, 10 teams will showcase their skills on Saturday, Sunday, Sept. 21 as well as Oct. 1 and 6. Each day will feature two performances at night, with each display lasting for around 18 minutes.

The tourism office has been organizing the event since 1989.
