U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.13 percent to 100.894 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1122 U.S. dollars from 1.1121 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3166 dollars from 1.3207 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 141.81 Japanese yen, higher than 140.71 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8460 Swiss francs from 0.8454 Swiss francs, and it was unchanged at 1.3593 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 10.1822 Swedish Kronor from 10.1983 Swedish Kronor.
