U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.02 percent to 100.614 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1165 U.S. dollars from 1.1147 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3282 dollars from 1.3247 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.66 Japanese yen, higher than 141.14 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8470 Swiss francs from 0.8433 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3556 Canadian dollars from 1.3575 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 10.1558 Swedish Kronor from 10.1731 Swedish Kronor.
