U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.44 percent to 100.912 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1134 U.S. dollars from 1.1166 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3320 dollars from 1.3400 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 144.68 Japanese yen, higher than 143.41 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8498 Swiss francs from 0.8442 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3480 Canadian dollars from 1.3444 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.1901 Swedish Kronor from 10.1137 Swedish Kronor.
