U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.39 percent to 100.522 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1179 U.S. dollars from 1.1134 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3419 dollars from 1.3320 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 144.62 Japanese yen, lower than 144.68 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8458 Swiss francs from 0.8498 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3470 Canadian dollars from 1.3480 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.1070 Swedish Kronor from 10.1901 Swedish Kronor.
