U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.14 percent to 100.382 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1167 U.S. dollars from 1.1179 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3386 dollars from 1.3419 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 142.19 Japanese yen, lower than 144.62 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8407 Swiss francs from 0.8458 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3512 Canadian dollars from 1.3470 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.0950 Swedish Kronor from 10.1070 Swedish Kronor.
