U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.4 percent to 100.780 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1132 U.S. dollars from 1.1167 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3375 dollars from 1.3386 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.69 Japanese yen, higher than 142.19 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8467 Swiss francs from 0.8407 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3523 Canadian dollars from 1.3512 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.1623 Swedish Kronor from 10.0950 Swedish Kronor.
