U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.41 percent to 101.193 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1072 U.S. dollars from 1.1132 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3284 dollars from 1.3375 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.67 Japanese yen, lower than 143.69 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8466 Swiss francs from 0.8467 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3484 Canadian dollars from 1.3523 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.2639 Swedish Kronor from 10.1623 Swedish Kronor.
