U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.31 percent to 101.989 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1026 U.S. dollars from 1.1038 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.3114 dollars from 1.3261 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.85 Japanese yen, higher than 146.33 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8529 Swiss francs from 0.8498 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3548 Canadian dollars from 1.3507 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.3120 Swedish Kronor from 10.2693 Swedish Kronor.
