U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.52 percent to 102.520 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0973 U.S. dollars from 1.1026 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3122 dollars from 1.3114 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 148.85 Japanese yen, higher than 146.85 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8585 Swiss francs from 0.8529 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3575 Canadian dollars from 1.3548 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.3688 Swedish Kronor from 10.3120 Swedish Kronor.
