U.S. dollar little changed

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar was almost flat in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.01 percent to 102.549 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0972 U.S. dollars from 1.0969 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3092 dollars from 1.3071 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 148.36 Japanese yen, higher than 148.11 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8579 Swiss francs from 0.8539 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3656 Canadian dollars from 1.3638 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 10.3520 Swedish Kronor from 10.3674 Swedish Kronor.
