U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.06 percent to 102.988 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.0922 U.S. dollars from 1.0937 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3047 dollars from 1.3065 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 148.76 Japanese yen, lower than 149.36 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.8572 Swiss francs from 0.8609 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3759 Canadian dollars from 1.3710 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.4084 Swedish Kronor from 10.4004 Swedish Kronor.
