LUSAKA, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government recently launched a program to combat poverty and improve living conditions as the country faces the effects of a severe drought, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet.

The program, called "Cash for Work," aims to provide relief to drought-affected communities and urban areas grappling with rising food prices and job losses due to the 2023/2024 farming season drought.
