India's retail inflation rises to 5.49 pct in September


NEW DELHI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- India's retail inflation rose to a nine-month high of 5.49 in September, the latest government data showed Monday.

According to the data released by the federal ministry of statistics and program implementation (MoSPI), the inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) in September is 5.49 percent. The index was 3.65 percent in August.

The food inflation rose to 9.24 percent in September from 5.66 percent in August, the data showed.
