Albania's tourism soars in August, boosted by foreign visitors


TIRANA, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Albania welcomed 650,600 visitors in August, a 32 percent year-on-year increase, according to data released Monday by the Institute of Statistics.

Non-resident visitors surged by 50.6 percent, while resident visitors grew by 1.2 percent. The number of non-residents staying in hotels or similar accommodations rose by 55 percent, reflecting a strong tourism recovery.

The growth rate of resident visitors dropped sharply from over 60 percent in August 2023 to 1.2 percent in August 2024, while non-resident visitor growth slowed from 63.7 percent to 50.6 percent.
