U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.06 percent to 104.074 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0800 U.S. dollars from 1.0812 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2978 U.S. dollars from 1.2979 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 151.06 Japanese yen, higher than 150.78 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8656 Swiss francs from 0.8662 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3822 Canadian dollars from 1.3841 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 10.5410 Swedish kronor from 10.5626 Swedish kronor.
