U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.19 percent to 104.257 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0803 U.S. dollars from 1.0823 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2969 U.S. dollars from 1.2973 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 152.25 Japanese yen, higher than 151.83 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8663 Swiss francs from 0.8660 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3886 Canadian dollars from 1.3856 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.6191 Swedish kronor from 10.5632 Swedish kronor.
