U.S. dollar stays nearly flat

NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar traded nearly flat in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased slightly to 104.316 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro added to 1.0814 U.S. dollars from 1.0812 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3005 U.S. dollars from 1.2968 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.41 Japanese yen, higher than 153.26 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8676 Swiss francs from 0.8652 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3922 Canadian dollars from 1.3896 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.6476 Swedish kronor from 10.6471 Swedish kronor.
