U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.31 percent to 103.993 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.0869 U.S. dollars from 1.0814 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.2984 U.S. dollars from 1.3005 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.24 Japanese yen, lower than 153.41 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8659 Swiss francs from 0.8676 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3899 Canadian dollars from 1.3922 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.6611 Swedish kronor from 10.6476 Swedish kronor.
