OSLO (Reuters) - Colombia will buy JAS Gripen fighter aircraft made by Sweden's Saab, Swedish public radio SR's Ekot news broadcast reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed sources.

It was not immediately clear how many aircraft Colombia would order from the Swedish defence contractor.

Saab AB has sought to boost sales of the Gripen fighter in Latin America, saying earlier this year it was eyeing potential purchases by Colombia and Peru as it prepares to start producing the aircraft in Brazil in partnership with Embraer SA.

Saab did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
