U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 1.61 percent to 105.090 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.0735 U.S. dollars from 1.0931 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.2890 U.S. dollars from 1.3021 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.45 Japanese yen, higher than 151.46 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8761 Swiss francs from 0.8631 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3932 Canadian dollars from 1.3841 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 10.8447 Swedish kronor from 10.7131 Swedish kronor.
